Build the application

If you have saved the Hello World program as D:\PalmDev\helloworld\helloworld.c, you can build the application as followed:

Start the Cygwin envionment. The installer of Cygwin has put an icon on your desktop and in the start menu.
Go to the location of the source code: cd /PalmDev/helloworld/
Compile and link the application m68k-palmos-gcc -O2 helloworld.c -o helloworld
Split the object into application sections: m68k-palmos-obj-res helloworld
Build the Palm resource file: build-prc helloworld.prc "Hello world" HeWo *.helloworld.grc

The name of the application will be Hello world, HeWo is the creatorID. You can have more programs with the same name, but the creatorID has to unique. If you install a program on your PDA that has a creatorID that is the same as another application on your PDA already uses, that application gets replaced with the new application.
